Where did he get this information?

Doesn’t he know that in order to get a CCL people have to have a background check and only then is the CCL issued?
If they were then to commit a felony the CLL would be revoked.

You are responsible for your own safty.

The Police have no legal duty to respond and prevent crime or protect the victim. There have BEEN OVER 10 various supreme and state court cases the individual has never won. Notably, the Supreme Court STATED about the responsibility of police for the security of your family and loved ones is "You, and only you, are responsible for your security and the security of your family and loved ones. That was the essence of a U.S. Supreme Court decision in the early 1980's when they ruled that the police do not have a duty to protect you as an individual, but to protect society as a whole.

Keep It up

Melanie, you are in the RIGHT here. Your strong arguments represented our position admirably. Great work for remaining vigilant in the face of a mindless, mob adversary.

Hi Melanie.

You did a wonderful job expressing your views and the facts which I think justify your actions as "a gun carrying soccer mama". You're an inspiration.

There were quite a few fallacies spewed by Mr. Miller as well as Det. Rogers. Though what troubles me most is how Det. Rogers (while a LEO proclaiming he is not "anti-gun rights") is so adamantly opposed to Open-Carry, which as you stated is totally legal in our great state of Pennsylvania as well as most other states. Oh, and he had to bring up "assault rifles"! Heh, I can only imagine what his views are regarding semi-automatic rifles in stating this misnomer.

Det. Rogers presented personal views on the OC issue which should be seen just as such. Though I can't help but be concerned that his personal views mimic and will even reinforce misinformation and/or disinformation that will promote other LEOs to infringe upon our right to Open-Carry.

In addressing two of the callers Steve and Heather. I thought it to be misleading or maybe just unintended when the host (though gracious as she was) asked Heather if she "agreed with Steve's assertion" -- as if somehow Heather had the power to over-rule the Law. Steve's comments were right on target and was devoid of any emotional rage unlike what was at the crux of Heather's comments. Perhaps Heathers rage is a result of the fact that you empower yourself and are determined not to succumb to any criminal that may wish to harm you or your family (which I think is the primary reason why anyone would OC or CC). Not sure but gee wiz, it seems to me that that girl Heather has some issues.

Anywho... Thank you for a job well done. I know that my family and I would be safer at a soccer game or anywhere else with you and your Open-Carry Glock.

Kudos

I agree with Melanie being able to carry her gun, however, I somewhat agree with Steve Rogers that people that carry should do so concealed.

I'm a former (civilian) cop and retired military. I would NEVER carry an exposed weapon as a civilian, whether it's perfectly legal or not. It's not smart. People that open-carry may as well have a sign on their back saying "Shoot me first". If open-carry works for her, fine. But there are smarter ways to accomplish what she's trying to do.

Bryan Miller is a gun-hating douche-bag and he's a liar too.

You did a great job! Sooner or later everyone will know that the more people who carry will decrease the number of violent crimes. You shot down all of their rediculous arguments perfectly. The USA needs more people like you. We are right now in Texas petitioning to get our right to open carry reinstated.

Those people on the soccer field would all be your best friend if something did happen and you alone were able to stop it. It is a shame that it requires a tragedy to prove this. You should be very proud of how you handled yourself on the tv program. Hey 95% of the people were on your side in the poll! Keep up the good work.

The New Jersey folks are a lesson in contradiction.

They hail from a Liberal Democrat-run State.

They espouse gun control.

Their State is impossible in which a law-abiding citizen with a spotless record would like to acquire a permit to carry.

Yet, they perennially make the list of "Most Dangerous City", as does EVERY Democrat-run city in the country.

There is a good reason why their state is known as "The Peoples Republic of New Jersey" : because of their oppressive, draconian laws, blindly crafted and designed to protect us from ourselves.

New Jersey is a textbook case in "Big Government."

Great job, Melanie!
I'm a little confused. Is the issue the fact that she is carrying a gun or that she is carrying a gun in view? It seemed to me that if it were hidden, it wouldn't be such a big deal. How ridiculous. I think (1) carrying the gun in plain sight is a great deterrent to criminals; they are generally cowards by nature and don't want to take on an armed person. (2) if kids question the gun on her hip, take the opportunity and teach the Eddie Eagle credo -- if you find a gun - stop, don't touch, leave the area, tell an adult. Kids are not all that easily traumatized; they go by their feelings and probably would ask a couple of questions and get on with the game.
My most important question is -- when did a soccer field become immune to the crazies who want to kill and when did kids become less of a target because they are playing a game? Get real. The crazies are out there and no place is immune unless you know every person who is there or could be there and would trust them with the life of your child.
When the fight breaks out, I want Melanie on my side!

I was really hoping that someone would mention to the CeaseFire guy that the incidence of criminal activity among law enforcement personnel is much higher than that among the carry permit population.
